Leading the Way to Unlock Learning: The Center for Transformative Teaching (CTT)

Neuroscience and educational research have revealed powerful insights into effective learning strategies, and at Crystal, we're embracing these discoveries by putting them into practice through our Center for Transformative Teaching (CTT).

Have you ever wondered why certain lessons from your own middle and secondary school days remain vivid while others have faded? The answer lies in how we learn. Neuroscience and educational research have revealed powerful insights into effective learning strategies, and at Crystal, we're embracing these discoveries by putting them into practice through our Center for Transformative Teaching (CTT). Transformative Teaching goes beyond simply imparting knowledge. Its goal is to deepen students' understanding of core concepts while also shaping their attitudes, values, beliefs, and skills related to learning. It's about fostering a love of learning and empowering students to become active, engaged learners, ultimately, making them positive contributors to society with a skill set that will follow them way beyond the classroom. Thanks to the vision of our Middle and Upper School Directors of Teaching and Learning, Meena Tahiliani and Julia Rubin ‘00, Crystal is at the forefront of this exciting educational movement. Our CTT is paving the way for us to become a leader in the field of Transformative Teaching. In March, Crystal will host a conference dedicated to Transformative Teaching. We're thrilled to welcome educators from more than 20 schools across the country, including our local peers Castilleja, Nueva, and Menlo, to share best practices and learn together. This conference underscores Crystal's commitment to innovation and excellence in education, ensuring our students receive the most effective and engaging learning experience possible. Stay tuned for more information about this exciting event!
