Specifically designed to provide support for first-generation college-bound students, Crystal FIRST (First In, Ready, Set, Thrive!) ensures these students have the resources and guidance needed to thrive in the school's educational environment and beyond. This program embodies the school's commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and equitable access.
Empower Future Leaders
Crystal FIRST welcomes students who aspire to be the first in their families to attend college. The program is available to students affiliated with our partner educational access programs and any eligible family joining Crystal in the 6th or 9th grades.
Comprehensive Support and Enrichment
Transition and Readiness
Before entering 6th or 9th grade, students participate in a two-week program focused on high school readiness, including writing and math workshops, community-building activities, and leadership development.
Peer and Parent Mentorship
We offer a peer mentoring program with current Crystal FIRST students and assign experienced Crystal FIRST parents/guardians to incoming families for support.
Parental Guidance and Events
Regular meetings and events provide assistance with financial aid, school communications (translation services), and college preparation.
Academic and Emotional Support
Ongoing, tailored support addresses both academic and social-emotional needs.
College Application Assistance
Students receive help with test prep, college visits, and application processes.
Internships and Leadership Opportunities
Through partnerships with organizations like Peninsula Bridge, we offer summer internships and leadership roles.
