Channeling Banksy

Inspired by street artist Banksy, Graphic Design II students reproduce their digital work in a way that amplifies an emotionally charged issue. Students tackle problems that range from social media pressure to environmental concerns.

The digitally generated artwork is first enlarged with the aid of a projector. The next stage involves a great deal of precision as students select a variety of round to flat brushes to apply acrylic paint. For some details, including typography and special characters, a student may choose to utilize a sharpie.

At 15 students strong, this is the largest Graphic Design II section in teacher Cristina Shin's tenure, and the first time the large-scale emotionally charged Banksy inspired project has been assigned.
