Technical Theaterbring a story to life

Where Power Tools Meet Artistic Intent

Production & Design is a fusion of creativity and collaboration where power tools and artistic vision craft scenes that captivate. With over a dozen shows annually, students collaborate with a diverse team of artists, painters, engineers, and builders. This blends individual strengths with teamwork, communication, and confidence. P&D is academic rigor of art class with the hands-on excitement of technical theater.

Crü is Waiting for You

Play a pivotal role in bringing stories to life, master the art of production, and enhance your personal growth. Crü is where the magic behind the scenes unfolds through communication teamwork designed to boost confidence and enrich your academic journey.

Middle School Stealth Crü

Delve into the world of stage production and embrace the art of subtlety, donning all-black attire during shows. Our meetings at clandestine times in the theater shop ensure that Crü activities seamlessly integrate with other responsibilities. And, of course, there’s an undeniable thrill in being stealthy.

The program is open to all Middle School students and provides flexibility, allowing participation from a single session to a full-time commitment. You can try your hand at various roles, from set construction for major plays to handling intricate stage technicalities. Leadership roles are awarded based on dedication and academic standing. You can also access Upper School mentors who will guide you to grow in the theater. However, main actors, those with tech week conflicts, and students who need to focus on academics may have to opt out.

Once you become a part of Crü, you are looped into our email group to keep connected and informed.

Upper School Crü

From the moment you step into the theater, your journey begins. As you progress, you’ll transition from a Novice, eager to learn, to an Apprentice familiar with the basics,  and then to a Journeyperson, competent and creative. The ultimate goal is to become a Crü Chief or Master Crü, leading and inspiring others.

All good Crü members exhibit the three A’s: Availability, Affability, and Aptitude. Respect for tools, peers, and the process is paramount.

Commitment and Roles:
Running Crü:
Regular attendance, especially on Saturdays, is key. Your commitment to set-building sessions determines your selection for the Running Crü, with full participation required from tech Sunday to Strike.

Crü Chiefs:
These leadership roles, including Stage Manager, Lights Director, and Sound Director, demand full commitment to all calls and meetings.

Props:
Attend as many meetings and Saturdays as possible, with a minimum of one rehearsal per week.

Saturday Set Crew:
Open to all, these sessions welcome any amount of time you can spare. Regular attendees have a higher chance of joining the Running Crü.

Attendance and Conflicts:
Key events include Crü Saturdays, Production Meetings, Level Set Saturdays, Tech Rehearsals, Dress Rehearsals, and Performances. Any scheduling conflicts should be communicated promptly.

The Mysterious Podar:

This theater secret serves as a reminder that there's always more to learn. Only Crü alumni can reveal its meaning after your last Crystal show is complete.

This is the start of Your Journey
