Your Questions Answered

List of 6 items.

  • Do siblings, children of alumni, or employee applicants influence admission decisions?

Recognizing the connection many families have with Crystal, we understand the appeal of enrolling siblings, alumni's children, and employees' children. Yet, it's important to note that these connections alone don't guarantee admission. Prospective students, including those with familial ties, must exhibit qualities that suggest they will thrive socially and academically at Crystal.
  • Does seeking tuition assistance affect my child's admission chances?

Applications are considered without regard to financial need during the admission reading process. We encourage all families interested in Crystal and tuition assistance to apply. In the final stage, we balance admission decisions with the availability of funds. Typically, we've had enough funds to admit all students who demonstrate financial need.
  • How are students selected?

The committee thoroughly reviews every application with great care, paying close attention to the information provided by parents and students. They consider the student's academic history, recommendations from teachers and principals, a proctored writing sample, as well as their unique talents, character, and leadership qualities. An interview also helps the committee understand each student better. For the 2024-2025 school year, please note that admission tests such as ISEE or SSAT will not be required. We promise to thoughtfully consider every candidate, ensuring a fair and empathetic process for all families.
  • Is Crystal open to international students?

International applications are welcome, provided that applicants don't require an I-20 Visa and ESL classes, which we cannot offer. International applicants should follow the same timeline and complete the same application steps as local applicants. We're happy to review these applications under these conditions.
  • What if we miss the January application deadline?

Understanding that life's circumstances can be unpredictable, we know families may not always meet our deadlines. While we discourage late applications, we do consider them if space is available in the desired grade. This consideration is at the discretion of the Director of Admission.
  • Will my child be labeled if we receive tuition assistance?

No. The process for tuition assistance applications is confidential. As such, neither students nor faculty members are aware of which families receive assistance.
